About

Red Balloon Learner Centres is an educational charity providing full-time tailored education, wellbeing therapy, and social re-engagement for children and young people who have self-excluded from mainstream schooling due to bullying, trauma, and mental health challenges.

Services

4
Negotiated Education Programme
Delivers full-time academic teaching from Entry Level up to GCSE qualifications in small groups ranging from one to six students. The programme operates through a negotiated curriculum tailored to individual pupil interests and learning pacing to rebuild academic confidence and enable smooth reintegration into mainstream school, college, or employment.
Student Wellbeing Programme
Provides dedicated psychological and therapeutic support designed to rebuild emotional resilience and self-esteem for traumatised children. Timetables integrate talking, art, music, or equine therapy alongside creative arts, non-competitive physical activities, and nature-based initiatives like Forest School and Duke of Edinburgh awards under an unconditional positive regard framework.
Social Re-Engagement Programme
Helps severely isolated young people gradually reconnect with peer communities and develop key life skills. Using communal lunchtime dining, mentor visits, outdoor excursions, and travel training, students develop the practical capabilities and social comfort necessary to navigate everyday public spaces and transition into further education.
