About

Dortmund at work is an initiative of the Regional Education Office (Fachbereich Schule) of the City of Dortmund. It connects students with regional businesses to provide vocational orientation, internships, apprenticeships, dual study programs, and voluntary service opportunities.

Dortmund At Work School

Dortmund at work SCHOOL supports secondary schools and students starting from grade 8 with tailored career orientation workshops, digital application training, interview simulations, company site visits, and direct guidance for finding internships and apprenticeships.

Berufsfelderkundung Entdeckertage

Structured career field exploration days allowing eighth-grade students to visit local companies, explore up to 16 professional fields, try hands-on workplace tasks, and connect directly with training businesses in Dortmund and surrounding cities.

Flashlights Netzwerktreffen

Annual networking event connecting local companies, secondary school teachers, educational partners, and municipal representatives in Dortmund to discuss emerging trends, best practices, and new strategies in vocational orientation, diversity, sustainability, and regional workforce development.
